“Volleyball has always played a vital role in my life. My mom was a coach, so growing up I felt like I was in a volleyball gym more than my own house, and looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Volleyball was always my “safe place” and something I looked forward to playing and practicing each day. Through playing in high school, it helped keep me competitive and active, and developed to the point that “being a volleyball player” was a part of my own identity. With the struggles of being a high school girl, I always found that volleyball was an outlet to escape the stressors of school and relationships in a healthy way. Additionally, I found some of my biggest mentors through playing volleyball and still look up to these people today. They were essentially my parents away from home, and taught me equally as much about life as they did about the game!”
