Cloud Peak Elite & Traveling Coach
Tongue River Middle School Coach
2 Years Coaching Experience
HOME LIFE: Kristen was born and raised in Sheridan County, and was involved mostly in sports, family road trips, and horse shows growing up. She has one younger sister, Sarah, and they were fortunate enough to spend a lot of their childhood at the base of the Bighorns, running down dirt roads, racing bikes, swimming in ponds, riding horses, and becoming "gym rats" at an early age.
EDUCATION: Kristen attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on a track scholarship her freshman year before transferring to the University of Wyoming and walking on to the track team, competing for three years. She eventually graduated with a BFA in Art & English in December of 2014 and now works full time as a graphic designer.
VOLLEYBALL CAREER: Kristen has played volleyball for as long as she can remember. She competed through high school for Tongue River High School, earning All-State and All-Conference Honors as a senior, as well as an invitation to compete on the North Team during the annual WHSAA senior showcase.
COACHING CAREER: This is Kristen's second season coaching volleyball, her first with Cloud Peak Volleyball Club. Kristen has coached at Tongue River Middle School for the last two years, and also coached an additional 14s club team last spring.
WHY I COACH: "I coach because I owe so much to the coaches I had growing up as an athlete in our community. I want to give back in ways that go beyond helping someone become a better volleyball player, ways that mean I'm helping shape an athlete's being from the inside out through character and work ethic.!”
VOLLEYBALL IDOL: "I admire Lauren Carlini, who played for the University of Wisconsin as a setter before becoming a member of the USA National Team. I've watched numerous videos on her time spent in the gym, and I feel her dedication and passion for the sport is something many young athletes can look up to."
